We would like to advise that a common side effect of Mounjaro/Wegovy is modest tachycardia (increased heart rate), which may exacerbate your pre-existing condition of POTs. We can approve your treatment, providing you accept the risk of tachycardia and agree to seek urgent medical attention if you experience a persistent heart rate above 100 bpm, palpitations, chest pains, shortness of breath, or syncope.
As you start treatment with Mounjaro/Wegovy, it’s important to be aware that people with a history of bile acid malabsorption can be more sensitive to stomach-related side effects. If you notice a significant increase in diarrhoea, dehydration, dizziness, severe tummy pain, or any change that feels markedly worse than your usual symptoms, please contact your GP promptly. Make sure you stay well-hydrated, continue any prescribed treatment for BAM as directed, and let us know if you’re unable to tolerate the new medication so we can adjust the dose or review your treatment plan. Please confirm you understand and accept the above information.
Both Mounjaro/Wegovy and Alogliptin/Sitagliptin/Vildagliptin/Linagliptin act on the same hormone pathway that help control blood sugar after eating. Since Wegovy/Mounjaro already provides full, potent GLP-1 receptor stimulation, adding a DPP-4 inhibitor does not make the effect stronger. Both drugs can cause GI upset (nausea, bloating, burping), and using them together can amplify these without clinical benefit. There’s also a theoretical increase in pancreatitis risk. Patient would need to stop DPP-4 inhibitor for this reason if wanting to start mounjaro please ask them to discuss with their diabetes management team, usually GP/nurse about this change.
Before we can proceed with your order please be advised that this medication can cause gallstones and pancreatitis. Please note that even if you have had your gallbladder removed, there is still a risk that gallstones can develop in the common bile duct, which may increase the risk of pancreatitis. If you understand and accept this risk, please confirm by replying to this message, for us to proceed with your order.
We would like to advise that a common side effect of Mounjaro/Wegovy is tachycardia (increased heart rate) which may exacerbate your pre-existing condition of Atrial Fibrillation. As you have mentioned the Atrial Fibrillation is well controlled, we can approve your treatment providing you accept the risk of tachycardia and agree to seek urgent medical attention if you experience any palpitations, chest pains, shortness of breath or syncope.
